First Thanksgiving as a Married Couple

I would describe this Thanksgiving in 5 words/phrases

Sleepless Nights
Lots of road time
Working at adidas
Food
Family

I worked a total of 20 hours from Wednesday to Saturday. This included a ten hour over night shift on Black Friday at adidas. I stayed up a total of 25 hours after only getting 5 hours of sleep the previous night. My body has decided that it likes my bed/room here at the apartment so much that sleeping anywhere else is nearly impossible.

I drove to the Sandy area three times during the holiday (Wednesday night, Friday morning, and Saturday).

I ate two large Thanksgiving dinners (one on Thursday and one on Saturday) and a large Thanksgiving breakfast (Thursday). It was nice to see both sides of my family (mine and Pete's). I have decided being married is awesome during the holidays because you get two Thanksgiving dinners. YUM!

Now, on to Christmas!

Holiday Yum!

Do you like cookies?
Do you like Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream?

If you answered yes to both of these questions then I have the recipe for you!

Mint Chocolate Chip Cookies!

I made these last night and I love them.

The dough looks like the ice cream.

They may look weird but I think its more festive.

Enjoy!

Future Home

My future home will include
  • A two story 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath home
  • The inside will be like a ski cabin with wood finish everywhere (cabinets, furniture, walls, etc)
  • A wrap around covered porch.
  • A porch swing
  • A large kitchen with an island and bar stools (I like to host and cook at the same time)
  • A jacuzzi tub in the master bath
  • A deck off the upstairs master bedroom that will have a hot tub
  • A large back yard with a grassy spot for croquet and lots of trees for privacy
  • High ceilings for tall Christmas trees
  • A chimney and fireplace made from river rocks
  • Red double front doors
  • Two river rock pillars in the front of the house framing the door
  • A grand staircase
  • Lots of windows to let the sunlight in

Random Memory

I remember during the summer when I was about 7 or 8 my sister and I were outside dancing around our yard to the Beach Boys. The one with the little old lady from Pasadena. We were sucking on Otter Pops and had home made baton twirlers.

We preferred our Otter Pops to be mostly melted and the batons were made out of sticks off the ground and the neon tape was from the hardware store.

We looked something like this....

I miss those days.

Invention

As we continue to live out of a cooler on our deck (fridge is still broken), I came up with a very inventive idea.

We have been limited on our dinner choices because of our lack of fridge and because I work 5pm-9pm all this week. I told Peter to get a pizza for dinner as I was heading out the door for work. He decided to get two. On my way home from work I was wondering how we are going to store the left over pizza. Yes, it should go in the cooler. The only problem was the melting ice. I didn't want the pizza to get soggy. This is when I thought of my great idea! Peter and I received collapsible/stackable cooling racks for cookies. So, when I got home I put one in the cooler, put ice under the rack, and put the pizza on the rack with a few ice cubes around the pizza. Now when the ice melts it will be under the rack and away from my pizza! Sometimes I surprise myself with good ideas. Now to obtain rights for this invention.....

Our Fridge

Inside our fridge

The rack in our fridge. The melted ice is below the food keeping the food cold but dry.

GROSS!

Our fridge has been broken for 2 days now and the repair man won't be here until tomorrow.
We have been living out of a cooler on our deck.

The milk didn't make it.
I didn't know this until I ate my cereal this morning.

Yuck!

Signs (not the movie)

Is it a bad sign when......

a bird runs into your sliding glass door and dies on your birthday?

I just want this to be a good year full of good luck!

Books?

BACK STORY: I like mystery books. Not killer/gory ones. A killer can be present in the book but just to add suspense to the mystery.

For example, Dan Brown's books. They have a killer in them but the main focus is solving a mystery which leads you to the killer or to stop a killing from happening.

Another Example, Stieg Larsson's books. Yes, people get killed but the many twists in the plot keep me hooked.

PROBLEM: I have no good mystery books to read.

SOLUTION: I need suggestions!

Football

I have learned more than I ever thought possible about football in the last four years of my life. It has actually come to the point where I can explain simple rules about the sport to other girls. But Saturday was the biggest advancement for me in football....

I Actually wanted/couldn't help but watch the Oregon Ducks play football.

I had my very captivating book open and ready to read but for some reason I was compelled to keep watching. Maybe it was because I'm from Oregon or because they are doing so well. Either way I immersed myself in to a football game. I don't think Peter could be more happy or proud. GO DUCKS!
